Like many who grew up in the video store era, I unwittingly hired Urotsukidoji (1989) aka Legend of the Overfiend as a teenager. I expected a horror anime, instead I got a heinous cocktail of crude rape scenes and tentacles invading every orifice in sight. It upset me a bit, but blew my mind too. I recently returned to Urotsukidoji, this time watching the original uncut Japanese version, and I was shocked at how much nastier it was than the already foul butchered Western version. While Urotsukidoji is dragged down by lengthy, dull scenes of sexual assault, it does feature some flashes of brilliance between rapes.
