You know what’s awesome about Jim Wynorski’s Chopping Mall (1986)? FUCKING EVERYTHING: a great title, killer robots, action, violence, 80s haircuts, 80s music, a cool shopping mall setting, a short and sweet running time, Barbara Crampton, Dick Miller, Russell Todd… hell, even Paul Bartel and Mary Woronov show up to pay tribute to Eating Raoul! But my favourite thing about Chopping Mall is its closing credits. While it’s sad that the film has come to end, Wynorski and Co. gift us with one more amazing gag. Before the final credits roll, we are shown the leading actors again. The footage freezes on their faces and a title name card appears. Nothing unusual about that, but just watch Suzee Slater’s title freeze. Who did she piss off? Or was Wynorski just really proud of his effects team? Either way, it makes me laugh every time I watch it.
