I watched Elio Petri’s The 10th Victim (1965) for the first time last week, knowing nothing about it other than what was written on the back of the DVD cover. Upon reading the plot synopsis, which involves a futuristic world where characters hunt down each other in a government sanctioned sport, I did not expect it to be a comedy. But it is, and a great one at that, featuring some of the best background gags I’ve seen. This dance routine in a hip club is my favourite.
