I watched The Opening of Misty Beethoven (1976) for, rather shamefully, the first time a few weeks back. (I picked up the incredible blu-ray from DistribPix – I highly recommend it.) Misty Beethoven certainly lived up to its reputation as the best classic hardcore has to offer. It’s funny, beautifully shot, and sports a killer soundtrack. The cast is also fantastic. The late, great Jamie Gillis, in particular, is amazing; he nails his delivery as skillfully as he nails his co-stars. Here is an exchange featuring Gillis that cracked me up.

Edit: It was pointed out on our Facebook page that Mark Margolis makes an appearance at the end of the clip! I’ve extended it to include his line.
