When I first saw this poster for Tetsuji Takechi’s 1981 remake of his own film, Daydream, I didn’t think too much of it. But with each accidental revisitation, it has demanded my attention, and that’s not just because of the beautiful naked woman. While it’s quite a nicely designed poster with its reflected skyscrapers and carefully placed text, it is fantastically and luridly 80s – right down to the carpet. I feel it says a lot about the decade and Japan’s approaching bubble era.
