Italian poster designers have an uncanny ability to make sleazy material even sleazier. Take this poster as a case in point. I Spit on Your Grave (1978) is already a remarkably unpleasant film, but this poster by Enzo Sciotti puts it through the Italian filter of sexy lingerie, blood, bondage, and a leather bound stool resulting in something far more obnoxious dripping in gaudy glitz – something that in no way represents the grim reality of Meir Zarchi’s classic revenge flick. You gotta love it!

Agree with your observations, Dave. And having thought about it, I was reminded that Enzo Sciotti’s artwork is ‘based’ (a copy) on a 1950s Bettie Page bondage image, which can been seen online here:
