Local genre heroes Monster Pictures and Lido Cinemas have recently launched a series of screenings titled Friday Fright Night. Their latest event was a showing of Tobe Hooper’s Lifeforce, which is a bit of a mess but features intergalactic vampires making it an automatic must-see. Lifeforce is known in Japan under the more exciting title Space Vampire (also closer to the source novel’s title, The Space Vampires). There are a lot of great posters for Lifeforce, but I think this is my favourite.

The same painting ended up later being used by the heavy metal group Crimson Glory as cover art for their 1988 LP “Transcendence”. I think in the West it’s more associated with that record than with the movie. http://www.metal-archives.com/albums/Crimson_Glory/Transcendence/2099#album_tabs_reviews

It’s used as the cover for the Japanese vinyl pressing of the soundtrack.
