Scars of Dracula – German poster
It was quite an easy choice deciding on a Christopher Lee themed poster to feature today. This much maligned film that ushered Lee's Dracula into the 70s is my favourite of Hammer's series, and Germany's gruesome poster does its vicious streak justice.
Teenage Milkmaid – US poster
Will you get a load of that tagline! It really seems like quite a stretch to me... Project a vaguely erotic notion on the concept of milkmaids and then see how far such a spurious notion can be pushed.
Pyasa Shaitan – Indian poster
When I see the poster below, my brain explodes into a fit of desperation telling me, "You have to see Pyasa Shaitan right fucking now."
Roller Blade Warriors: Taken By Force – US VHS cover
Well this VHS cover is just a lot of quintessentially 80s fun, isn't it? I want to give an extra nod to the cover designer for opting toward a borderline illegible font.
Tentacles – Japanese poster
Is it any real surprise that the best poster for a movie called Tentacles would come from Japan?
Looker – Hungarian poster
I could not be more enamoured with this Hungarian poster for Michael Crichton's Looker if I tried. It ticks pretty much every box my design wang needs in order to stiffen, and it has done so considerably.
Masterblaster – VHS cover
Wow. Prism Entertainment went all out with this one. The image of a smoking sexy lady-gun is one of the odder things I've seen in my lifetime.
Doctor Butcher MD (Medical Deviant) aka Zombie Holocaust – US poster
When I stumbled upon this poster, I wondered if perhaps if it was some brilliantly designed ruse for a film that never existed. It seemed too perfectly bizarre.
Death Smiles on a Murderer – Italian poster
Despite being directed by the great Joe D'Amato and starring the loony Klaus Kinski, I had somehow never heard of Death Smiles on a Murderer. This poster really makes me want to see it!
Beast of Blood/Curse of the Vampires – US combo poster
Just look at it. A thing of comedically macabre beauty.
Scalps – US poster
Man... who would have thought a Fred Olen Ray movie could inspire such great artwork?
Berberian Sound Studio – UK poster
Not an obscure movie by any means, but nonetheless, I cannot forbid such a gorgeous movie poster from being ignored simply because the movie in question achieved some popularity. I don't even want to say anything about it. Just look at it.
