Pyasa Shaitan – Indian poster
When I see the poster below, my brain explodes into a fit of desperation telling me, "You have to see Pyasa Shaitan right fucking now."
Demons bring gory animated Hell to Earth
Hiring Urotsukidoji as a teenager, I expected a horror anime, instead I got a heinous cocktail of crude rape scenes and tentacles invading every orifice in sight. It upset me a bit, but blew my mind too.
Good Dog (いい犬 Ii Inu)
Good Dog is not actually a dog. Housing some rather complicated fantasies, he is a human-shaped demon who dresses up in a dog costume so shitty it would offend even the least discerning of furries.
Roller Blade Warriors: Taken By Force – US VHS cover
Well this VHS cover is just a lot of quintessentially 80s fun, isn't it? I want to give an extra nod to the cover designer for opting toward a borderline illegible font.
Fucking shit!
There's very little in this world funnier than terrible English speaking actors in Hong Kong movies. It gets even funnier when they have to swear. And funnier still when the English subtitles manage to mistranslate what they're saying.
Raging Sharks (2005)
A bizarre and terribly uneven mix of outer space sci-fi, underwater horror, and naval drama, Raging Sharks is a shark film like no other. While I'm not much of a fan of the Shark New Wave, the garbage pumped out by Nu Image Films is generally pretty entertaining.
Tentacles – Japanese poster
Is it any real surprise that the best poster for a movie called Tentacles would come from Japan?
Finger click fight
Disco Dancer is the most entertaining Bollywood film I've ever seen. It has everything you could ever want in a film: disco dancing, death by electric guitar, incestuous undertones, and fights. The fight in the clip below is a definite highlight.
Der Samurai (2014)
I spent much of Der Samurai's running time terrified that it would betray its ambiguous approach and elegant style. But it never does. It remains true to itself start to finish. Der Samurai is exactly what independent film exists for.
Tokusatsu TV Shows of the 70s: Tetsujin Tiger Seven & Spectreman
Out from the ashes I rise again, clawing myself out of the rubble. What will I do first? See my loved ones? Lay with a female of my own species? No. I will watch some tokusatsu TV shows from the 70s.
Looker – Hungarian poster
I could not be more enamoured with this Hungarian poster for Michael Crichton's Looker if I tried. It ticks pretty much every box my design wang needs in order to stiffen, and it has done so considerably.
Ultralady + generic kaijū + porn = thanks, Japan
Thanks, Red Lady. Thanks, Ultraman. And thanks, Japan. Thanks.
