Stone Cold (1991) is my favourite action film ever. It’s full of jaw-dropping stunts, Lance Henriksen, great bad one-liners, violence, general stupidity and an amazingly bloody finale. It also stars Brian Bosworth – ex-football player – a casting choice which is both the film’s biggest downfall and its greatest asset. Bosworth looks ridiculous and is entirely impossible to take seriously. His bleached mullet, his brain dead expressions (or expression, singular) and his near-permanent smirk all add up to the perfect late 80s/early 90s action superstar. Sadly, Bosworth’s career would not take off and he would only go on to make a few forgotten clunkers. But at least we have Stone Cold! Stone Cold, like many action flicks of yesteryear, tries to make its leading tough guy a little bit wacky by giving him a handful of (very forced) quirks. Here’s one of them…
