You know from the moment Jiger dredges her fucked up body from the earth that she is going to be a creep. In Gamera vs. Jiger, Jiger does something to Gamera that is the worst thing I've ever seen a giant monster do to another giant monster.

Alien Spell (スペル星人 Superu Seijin)
Alien Spell has a more interesting back story than any Ultra monster - I'm not talking about his narrative history, but the controversy his episode, "From a Planet with Love", generated back in the late 60s.

Guiron (ギロン Giron)
Goddamn. I love Guiron. He should have got his own spin-off movie. Although it would probably just be torture porn of him chopping up Space Gyaos.

Daigoro: a devourer of food, a drain on the Japanese economy, a useless fighter, and not toilet trained.

In "Pearl Oyster Defense Order", the episode's monster, Gamakujira, eats a bunch of pearls. That's it. That's the disaster at hand. Fucking pearls!

Viras stands alongside weirdos like Hedorah as one of the oddest looking kaijū in monster movie history. A deformed squib with the face of a bird, there's something strangely creepy about the big lug.

Jamila's episode takes its monster seriously and replaces the sometimes painfully jokey tone of the show with a grim sadness. Yes, Jamila is perhaps Ultraman's most heartrending foe.

Gorosaurus ranks highly on many fan lists of monster favourites, including my own. Perhaps it is his no-frills design and sympathetic aura that give him his edge.

With Gamera vs. Gyaos, Gyaos became Gamera's second adversary and a worthy followup to Barugon. While certainly a more restrained kaijū in comparison to its predecessor, Gyaos nonetheless brings the goods.

It's impossible to explain how much of a mark Mechagodzilla has made such me without sitting everyone down to watch Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla and Terror of Mechagodzilla while I clap and dribble with mindless glee. But I'll try.

Daimajin (大魔神)
Daimajin is nothing like any other giant monster featured in the Menagerie thus far. Just looking at his physical appearance, it's clear this guy won't be showing up in an episode of Ultraman.
