Search and Destroy aka Striking Back – US posters
I have a two'fer for you this week. The same film with different titles, each title given its own utterly nonsense poster. I couldn't decide which to pick, so I opted for both, because just look at them.
The Rape of the Vampire – French poster
I love the poster designs of Jean Rollin's early films. This poster for Rollin's debut isn't quite up there with the poster art for Fascination and The Shiver of the Vampires, but its mixture of amateur artistry and lurid imagery appeals to me.
The Navy vs. the Night Monsters – US poster
Everything about The Navy vs The Night Monsters screams "ill-conceived monster movie". I'm sure at the very least it was rare to posit the navy as the hero against ungodly creatures.
Black Crows – Czech poster
Just look at this stunning poster for the Norwegian film Black Crows. It was designed by Eva Heřmanská and embraces the hands on approach to design technique that often demarcates Eastern European poster design from this period.
One on Top of the Other – US poster
We've featured many posters for Lucio Fulci films on Mondo Exploito. There's something about Fulci's work that inspires great advertisements.
Without Warning – US poster
I... I... I'm finding it hard to breathe as I gaze deep into this poster...
Santo vs. The Vice Mafia – Mexican poster
Whoa. I somehow completely forgot to put up a poster of the week last Sunday. As an apology, please enjoy this amazing poster for a Santo flick.
Orgazmo – Japanese poster
I love the pixelated dildo. It's so Japanese that it must be tongue-in-cheek rather than a censorship issue.
Nurse Sherri – US poster
I have never seen anyone quite so excited about nearby gravedigging. Was that really the brief given to the artist? Nurse has orgasm next to gravedigging? I hope so.
The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe – Czech poster
Truth be told, every poster I have seen for Yves Robert's The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe has been a thing of beauty. It is one of those films that seemed blessed with design greatness.
Grave of the Vampire – US poster
There's not much to say about this really. Just look at it. Ridiculous!
