Great choice, Mathew! Is this actually a photo of our linen-backed 1sh? Totally agree about the poster design. I think it’s the best photographic XXX poster of all time, narrowly edging out Cafe Flesh & Neon Nights. Traci never looked hotter than in this shot by Cory Brandon, and in retrospect she was perfectly cast as The Devil. The film totally lives up to the poster, too! The electric 35mm cinematography, throbbing editing & time-capsule slut-chic/Dep Total Control Mousse styling proudly branded it the first MTV-era porno movie, and the Dark Brothers’ pervasive un-PC Howard Stern Showesque humor was always a kick in the balls. (And resulted in 2 of their non-Traci videos, Let Me Tell Ya Got Black Chicks & Black Bunbusters, getting buried in the VCA vaults to this day.) The Plugz provided the best-ever XXX soundtrack, including the uber-cool classic “She Electrifed Me”.

According to some very inside sources, Traci actually shot scenes for their masterpiece Devil In Miss Jones 3 & 4 right before the “scandal” broke, and her mercenary lies and unforgivable backstabbing were the main reason the Darks retired from porn in 1986. Now that the statute of limitations has expired, it’s high time someone wrote a book detailing the whole sorry, Meese Commission-perpetrated shitstorm, which has been crying out to be told ever since Traci’s hogwash autobiography came off the presses. But like OJ Simpson in The Towering Inferno, we can still enjoy Traci’s exceptionally filthy performance in NWH, in which she bangs Greg Rome so hard her earring falls off.

The poster itself has never been illegal. There’s no nudity or sexual activity and is no more obscene than any number of layouts with teen models in almost every issue of VOGUE for the past 40 years. I was referring to the kiddie-porn and child sexual abuse charges that most of the major 80’s porn studios and magazines were threatened with for hiring “Traci” (aka Nora Kuzma), who at 16, was sophisticated enough to acquire forged government-issued documents able to fool the legal departments of multimillion dollar companies (including VCA Pictures & Penthouse magazine!). To say she was exploited in any real way flies in the face of what numerous performers, filmmakers & photographers who worked with her all say. She was a precocious, wild, reckless opportunist who, when sniffed out by the FBI, colluded with them to put the screws to innocent people, in the process ruining some of them. I always found it very telling that upon turning 18, Traci herself profited enormously from the ban on and destruction of thousands of videocassettes by producing her own film, Traci I Love You, which made her a huge amount of money as the only legal Traci porno film available in most countries.

Traci’s underage pornos are still illegal in the US and everywhere else where the age of consent is 18. They were never banned in Germany,though, where the age limit is lower, and can still be easily ordered from there for anyone willing to risk importing them.
