Note: I remembered after writing this that Matt’s clip of the week from last week was also from a Henenlotter film! Oh well, the more Henenlotter the merrier!

Last week, Pierre and I watched Basket Case 3 for the first time. It was the last Henenlotter film I had to see from his frustratingly miniscule but mind-blowing filmography. From the grimy Basket Case (1982) to the demented Bad Biology (2008), Frank Henenlotter is a true master of horror and exploitation. Almost every film to his name is a masterpiece and the rest are damned close. Basket Case 3 is definitely Henenlotter’s worst. But that doesn’t mean that I didn’t dig it. Following on directly from Basket Case 2, the film takes the previous sequel’s goofiness and ramps it up perhaps a little too much. Luckily, there’s a handful of impressive scenes and the effects in the film are brilliant albeit completely absurd. One of the best moments is a nutty massacre scene that takes place in a police station, giving Belial a chance to shine. Check it out…
